WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR GETTING KIDS HEALTHY?

We should do everything that we can to get our kids healthy. There are many factors that we need to be aware of so that we can have healthy kids.

1. Physical Activity:
Activity benefits a child in more ways than merely physical. Overall, the child is benefitted not only physically, but also psychologically and socially. When children are allowed to play consistently, it helps to develop their muscles and their coordination.Their bones and joints even become stronger and they are able to withstand injury. Physical fitness affects their immune systems as well, making them less susceptible to diseases. It is believed that children who are active are very resistant to becoming sick less than those who are inactive. Parents therefore should encourage their children to get involved as much as possible in physical activities.

DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO BE DRUGGED?

Many people who have an interest in what is going on in the world today with children and their health have often commented about the uncontrollable use of medications and diagnosis of children with ADD, ADHD, or Autism. Isn’t it funny that here recently a large number of otherwise normal and healthy children are being diagnosed with these dreaded diseases? To make matters worst, there are schools and their associated medical counterparts who are contributing to the prescriptions of many dangerous drugs. According to them, these drugs will eliminate the problems that affect children with such diseases.

Many of us older folks can attest to the fact that when we were children, whenever a kid couldn’t stay seated in class, our teachers didn`t lose patience and holler that the child had some mental problem, branded him with ADD or ADHD and charge that he be prescribed with drugs. However, this is the trend today and many of our children are being affected especially in public schools across the United States. Parents need to intervene and tell those who are involved with these practices to put an end to them and practice better classroom management. Many of us are afraid to question schools and are not bold enough to find out why this new trend? We would rather go along with their suggestion to have our children tested so that they and the medical personnell can begin finding drugs such as Ritalin, Concerta, Paxel or another of their magical behavior adjustment drugs to combat misbehavior in class.

We are aware of the fact that schools have an average amount of influence over parents in the area of putting children on drugs. Whenever there are medical experts who determine the fate of our children, we are in a position where we have no other choice but to agree with them, and work in accordance with their diagnosis, and allow them to prescribe the medication. If we oppose it, the schools will make us feel guilty of being irresponsible and uncaring parents.

It has been noticed by many that these children are dealt with very unfairly by the professionals and they are not spending adequate time with the children to see what their real needs may be. The best way to analyze the problem would be to determine whether the children behave the same way at home as they do at school.

We have been teaching our kids about the dangers of drugs. However, it would be great if our schools would also do the same in respect to not giving drugs to our kids so that their behavior in school would be more satisfactory.
